Jim’s dedication and expertise have significantly contributed to the industry’s growth and innovation. His legacy is celebrated not just by his colleagues at Hobas Pipe but by the entire water sector.

Jim Mahony has been a pivotal figure in our nation’s underground infrastructure, beginning with his involvement in Cured-In-Place Pipe (C.I.P.P.) technology. Many industry professionals recognize Jim from his time at Insituform, where he played a key role in advancing C.I.P.P.’s application for flexible pipe rehabilitation.

On November 3, the Nebraska Water Environment Association proudly inducted Jim Mahony, Hobas Pipe USA’s Mid-Central Area Manager, into the prestigious Select Society of Sanitary Sludge Shovelers (5S or the S.S. of S.S.S.), a group whose members are selected solely based on merit. This honor, underscores his exceptional contributions and the high regard in which he is held by his peers, and as noted by the Water Environment Federation (WEF), is awarded for “outstanding, meritorious service above and beyond the call of duty.” The S.S. of S.S.S. is renowned for its exclusivity, with only the most accomplished professionals earning a place within its ranks. Being selected is a testament to Jim’s outstanding achievements and his unwavering commitment to innovation in the water industry.

Jim Mahony’s journey began at the University of Northern Colorado. His diverse career includes roles such as stationary engineer in the power industry and oilfield area manager drilling superintendent. Since 1995, he has dedicated himself to the sanitary sewer industry.

Throughout his career, Jim has actively participated in various committees, contributing significantly to the field. His efforts include involvement with NWEA scholarships, the NWOD Advisory/Training, and the NWEA public education committee. Residing in Overland Park, Kansas, with his wife, Julie, Jim is deeply committed to both his professional and personal communities.

Jim joined Hobas Pipe USA, based in Houston, in 2004. His dedication and expertise make him the second employee from Hobas to receive the 5S honor, following John Mele, the North Atlantic Area Manager, who was inducted in 2000.

As Jim Mahony embarks on this new chapter of his life, we extend our heartfelt gratitude for his remarkable contributions. We wish him a joyous and fulfilling retirement, filled with the same passion and enthusiasm he brought to his career.

Thank you, Jim, for your unwavering dedication and the legacy you left behind.

Wishing you luck in your next chapter!
